Characterization of wellbore asphaltene deposition in well Gaotan-1 in Junggar Basin, China

Abstract Gaotan-1 is the first high-yield well explored in southern margin of Junggar Basin, China, which a major breakthrough oil exploration for Xinjiang Oilfield Company. The produced high-quality light crude with very low sulfur content and total acid number. However, serious sedimentation occurred wellbore during production, seriously affects production. In this paper, sediments from were separated into organic soluble inorganic solid fractions. compounds characterized by high resolution mass spectrometry temperature gas chromatography. It was found that matter rich asphaltenes molecular condensation. condensation should be formed reservoir environment, extracted supercritical fluid hydrocarbons under ultra-high pressure. Due to its super-dissolving ability, high-condensation are brought out reservoir, deposit gradually mixed silty sand on wall as pressure dropped process exploitation.
